PM Kisan 20th Installment Date: Get ₹2000 in June Month

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana is a central government scheme for farmers, launched in February 2019, designed to promote the welfare of Indian farmers.

The 19th instalment of this scheme was last released in February 2025. Recently, it has been announced that its 20th instalment is likely to be released by June 2025.

Under the PM-Kisan scheme, the government offers ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers for farming, which is credited directly to their bank accounts. But they do not get it all at once every year.

It is disbursed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months. It may not be a huge amount, but it is a very helpful plan for small or marginal farmers.

Who Is Eligible for PM-KISAN?

This scheme is not for the farmers who do not have their land and who cultivate on others’ land. PM-KISAN covers those farmer families who own jointly cultivable land and whose land records are maintained in the concerned State or Union Territory.

Certain groups are excluded from the scheme, are mentioned below:

  • Institutional landholders.
  • Former and present holders of constitutional posts.
  • Income taxpayers.
  • Serving or retired government employees
  • Registered professionals such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers.

As per the central government rules, to be eligible for this scheme, farmers must have their land records verified. They must also have their bank accounts linked to Aadhaar.

Objectives of the PM Kisan Scheme

Farmers in India often struggle to adopt the proper farming methods due to financial constraints.

Therefore, to reduce the financial burden on the farmers, the Government of India has launched the PM-KISAN scheme. The main objectives of this scheme are discussed here:

  • It is tailored to offer steady financial support to small and marginal farmers
  • Enhancing agricultural productivity in India is another primary objective of the PM-Kisan Scheme
  • This scheme is also designed to reduce the farmers’ dependency on borrowing informal credit or loans
  • This scheme is designed to ensure minimum economic security for farmers to meet basic agricultural needs.

Most small farmers do not have access to formal credit and struggle with the high cost of purchasing seeds, fertilisers, and machinery throughout their lives. To reduce their financial crisis, they resort to informal credit. PM-KISAN is designed to fill this financial gap.

Eligibility Criteria for PM-KISAN

Not every farmer is eligible to get the benefit of the PM-Kisan scheme. The specific groups of farmers based on their landholding and income status come under this scheme:

Small and marginal farmers with land ownership

Farmer families (husband, wife, and minor children)

Urban farmers owning cultivable land

Conclusion

The government of India has decided to disburse the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN in June 2025. Therefore, eligible farmers are advised to update their details.

Checking the official website of PM-KISAN will show whether the details have been updated. Till the 19th instalment, over Rs 22,000 crore have been disbursed by the central government to farmers.

This scheme is a vital support to the farming community in India, which will improve the agriculture sector in India in the future.
