Telangana Government is launching the Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme. It aims to help the residents, especially handloom weavers. The scheme will provide insurance coverage for them. Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme
Under a Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme, insurance premium costs will be covered. If the insured person dies from an illness or accident while the insurance is active, the nominee or family will be reimbursed up to 5 lakh rupees. Normally, this money is sent slowly to the nominee, but under this arrangement, they will receive the full amount just ten days after the beneficiary’s death.
Life Insurance amount of Rs. 5 Lakhs will be provided to the beneficiaries who have applied for Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme. This amount will only be provided to the applicant if he or she has applied for this scheme and in case he or she will die the amount of insurance will be provided to them.

Objectives Of Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme
The main aim of the Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme is to provide more insurance coverage to handloom weavers in the state. The goal is to improve their lives and make them happier and more comfortable. The government has also launched other programs to help handloom weavers and has already given financial aid to the industry since 2016.
The second objective of launching the Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme with a coverage of Rs. 5 lakhs is to provide financial protection and security to individuals and their families in case of an unfortunate event leading to loss of life. This will ensure that the policyholder’s loved ones receive a substantial sum of money to cope with financial challenges.
Beneficiary Category
It is only on the basis of the beneficiary category that the applicants or residents will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme. For this, they will need to attain the beneficiary category. This scheme will be applicable to the residents of Telangana state who are weavers working in handloom activities.

The amount of incentive that will be provided to the applicant has already been fixed in advance so that the applicants will be able to get the amount on time. This scheme will award life insurance coverage of Rs. 5 Lakhs to the weaver’s family on behalf of the applicant in case he or she get died.

Concerns Raised Over Handloom Tax
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC Ramana has expressed concern over the 5% tax imposed on handlooms by the state government. He stated that no previous government had levied such a tax on handloom. Ramana urged the central government to remove this tax and make the Goods and Services Tax (GST) zero for the benefit of weavers.

If the beneficiary of the Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme in the state of Telangana passes away, the state government will provide the necessary funds for the scheme. These funds will then be used to reimburse the insurance policy amount to the beneficiary’s family or designated dependents within a period of 10 days.
State Programs Aid Handloom Weavers
The state government supports handloom weavers through two programs: Chenetha Mitra and Nethanna Ku Cheyutha. Handloom employees receive a 40% subsidy and a 16% financial deposit as assistance. However, these initiatives are only available to weavers who participate in them resulting in providing financial aid to the weavers.
Telangana Allocated 50 Crores to Support Handloom Workers
The Handloom and Textile Department in Telangana is leading an initiative to support handloom workers. The government has allocated 50 crores rupees, with 25 crores already given out. They will also introduce an insurance plan called Nethanna Bima to provide financial support to the families of weavers. This initiative will benefit around 80,000 handloom workers.
