Telangana Sheep Distribution Scheme Subsidy %age

This scheme will provide subsidy benefit to the applicant belonging to the beneficiary category of this scheme so that at the time of purchasing sheep from the government scheme they will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme. At the time of purchasing sheep, the communities will need only to pay the 25% of the amount of sheep and the remaining 75% will be paid by the government which means 75% subsidy will be provided.

Boosting Agricultural Sector

Providing subsidies for purchasing sheep can significantly enhance the agricultural sector. These financial incentives make it affordable for farmers to invest in sheep, leading to an overall increase in livestock numbers. Consequently, this amplified production can facilitate better food security and contribute to the self-sustainability of the nation.

Income Diversification

Subsidies for purchasing sheep open up opportunities for farmers to diversify their sources of income. Sheep farming can generate additional revenue streams through wool, meat, and dairy production. Consequently, farmers can reduce their dependency on single crops and engage in a more resilient and versatile agricultural landscape.

Rural Employment Opportunities

The implementation of subsidies for purchasing sheep encourages job creation in rural areas. Sheep farming requires dedicated labor for shearing, feeding, and other husbandry activities. This upsurge in employment opportunities can help curb rural-urban migration, decrease unemployment rates, and alleviate poverty in rural communities.

Sustainable Land Management

Sheep farming practices, when properly managed, can contribute to sustainable land management. Grazing sheep helps control weed growth, enhances soil fertility, and prevents soil erosion. By supporting sheep farming through subsidies, the government promotes environmentally friendly agricultural practices, leading to healthier ecosystems and increased productivity in the long run.

Telangana Sheep Distribution Scheme Frauds Uncovered

Middlemen and beneficiaries are cheating a sheep distribution scheme by selling the sheep to neighboring states or back to the government. The officials have noticed that some sheep have had their earmarkings removed and returned to markets. 500 beneficiaries and smugglers have been served notice or had cases registered against them. More cases are being investigated.

Rising Sheep Prices Challenge State Officials

Demand for sheep has increased, causing traders in neighboring states to raise their prices by Rs 2,000 per sheep. This has made it difficult for state officials to buy them at the fixed price of Rs 1.25 lakh each. Originally, sheep cost Rs 5,000 and rams cost Rs 7,000, but now prices have increased to Rs 7,000 and over Rs 10,000 respectively.

Government Fights Sheep Resale & Smuggling

The government has formed task force teams to tackle sheep resale, recycling, and smuggling. District Collectors are in charge of these teams, which include police, vigilance, revenue, and animal husbandry departments. Mandal and village committees are also being created to monitor illegal sheep trade. Surprise inspections are being conducted and if beneficiaries have sold their sheep, the animals, vehicles, and beneficiaries are seized and criminal cases are filed.

Delays in Shepherd Insurance Claims

The State government is giving insurance to sheep for when they die, but shepherds are having trouble getting their claims on time. There is not enough staff to help, so the shepherds have to give certain documents like a death certificate, tag, photo, and post-mortem report to get the money. But the veterinary doctors can’t do the post-mortems because they are busy with other things.
