Mizoram SEDP Scheme

The Mizoram government has launched the Mizoram SEDP Scheme due to worsening financial conditions. It’s a program aiming to help families, providing over 3 lakh rupees in total, starting with 50,000 rupees in the first year, given in installments. Mizoram allocated Rs. 700 crore for this, with Rs. 350 crore for family development. Around 60,000 people statewide will benefit.

There are around 11 districts of Mizoram state that will be covered under the Mizoram SEDP Scheme. There are more than 70 different types of jobs available. People can choose from these jobs, which are divided into nine departments. To support around 60,000 beneficiaries, each beneficiary will receive Rs. 50,000. They will be distributed to 1,500 beneficiaries in each of the 40 Assembly Constituencies.

Objectives Of Mizoram SEDP Scheme

The major objective of launching the Mizoram SEDP Scheme is to define development and livelihood production objectives. It’s a crucial initiative for the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) and was part of their 2018 election platform. However, due to financial challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the state must implement the SEDP within its budget constraints. It took three years for the government to initiate this family-friendly policy.

Another objective of launching the Mizoram SEDP Scheme is to cover around 11 districts throughout the state so that the residents living in this state will be able to get social welfare provided to them. Mizoram SEDP Scheme Beneficiary Category

This is only on the basis of the beneficiary category that the applicants will be able to make benefit out of this scheme. Otherwise, they will not be given any benefits of this scheme. To be eligible for this program, you must be a permanent resident of Mizoram and provide valid proof of your residence.

Special Consideration for Marginalized Groups

This scheme will provide benefits to only a selected number of categories that have been shortlisted for getting the amounts of incentives. Certain marginalized groups, such as women, scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), individuals with disabilities (PWD), and other backward classes (OBC), may receive special consideration under this program.

Mizoram SEDP Scheme Age Limit

Individuals aged between 18 to 45 are eligible to participate in this program. Applicants who have possessed this age limit will get an online registration.

Educational Qualification

This is also mandatory to abide by the educational qualification that has been fixed or ascertained by the selection body or as well as the authorized body. Candidates should have a Class 10 (secondary school) or equivalent educational qualification from a recognized board or institution.

Aid to 60,000 Households

This scheme will start benefitting only a small number of beneficiaries who may be able to get the benefits soon awarded to them that will be given on the basis of beneficiary limitation that has been fixed. During this fiscal year, the state government plans to assist 60,000 households through the SEDP, aiming to provide financial support totaling three lakh rupees.

Financial Assistance in Installments

The amount of benefit that will be provided or awarded to the selected beneficiaries will be given using installment mode so that the applicants will be able to receive the payments at each time whenever the government awards them. Beneficiaries will receive financial aid in installments of Rs 25,000, with the first installment expected between September 1 and October 31, 2022, and the second between December 1, 2022, and February 15, 2023.

Allocation Across Departments

The government will start awarding the scheme benefits or amounts through various departments which means allocation of money has been allotted through various departments. Various departments will cover different households under the SEDP, including Agriculture, Veterinary, UD&PA, Land Resources, Horticulture, and Commerce and industry.
